GATEWAY TEAMS WITH UNITED STATES CHAMBER OF COMMERCE TO SERVE SMALL BUSINESSES
SAN DIEGO – July 25, 2001 –
Gateway, Inc. (NYSE: GTW) and the United States Chamber of Commerce today announced a two-year partnership to improve access to technology solutions to small businesses across the United States. Under the agreement, Gateway will provide Chamber members with discounts on Gateway desktop and notebook PCs, servers, select accessories and training. Chamber members also will have access to a dedicated toll-free number and custom Web site for easy purchasing and tracking.
My spin: High volume deals like this are going to help put PC vendors back on the path to increased profitability. I wonder what would happen if Gateway would stock a few PC’s in ther Gateway Stores and enable customers to pay and leave with a product instead of waiting several days for it to come to their offices/homes?
“More than ever, growing businesses today rely on cutting-edge technology to succeed,” said Thomas Donohue, president and chief executive officer of the United States Chamber of Commerce. “Gateway’s ability to deliver high-quality products, superior customer service, custom capabilities and personalized local support through 300 Gateway Country stores across the U.S. provides our members with a turn-key solution for all their computing needs.”
