Hewlett-Packard to Acquire Compaq in $25 Billion DealBy ANDREW ROSS SORKIN and FLOYD NORRIS
The merger, if completed, would produce a company with annual revenue only slightly less than that of I.B.M., the largest computer company.
My spin:I don’t think this will come as a shock to anyone. There’s going to be more and more buying, merging and etc amongst large (and small) hi-tech companies. I predicted months ago and that IBM and DELL will do something together. In any case for small businesses this merger won’t really mean much, this merger of two large giants is a move for the survival of HP and Compaq. Kind of like survivor you gang with up one or two others to ensure your own survival.
