Designed to enhance ease-of-use, simplify integration, and increase compliance rates, Salesnet Extended targets enterprise customers with 50 – 250 salespeople. Customer requests and feedback from Salesnet’s enterprise users drove the development of the new functionality. Salesnet boasts large deployments at Fortune 500 companies such as Staples, Sovereign Bank, British Telecommunications plc, Tellabs, and Charter Communications.
Salesnet Extended retains all of Salesnet’s core functionality, including the proprietary Process Builder, robust Report Writer, unlimited Company-Defined Fields, world-class wireless capabilities, a Communication Manager that features the tightest integration with Microsoft Word, and fully customizable External Data Capture.
In addition, Salesnet Extended will also include the following new pieces of functionality:
Web Services API built using the Microsoft.NET framework – enables easy integration between Salesnet’s SFA solution and other Customer Relationship Management (CRM) and enterprise applications.
® Offline – is completely customizable and enables salespeople to view, create, and update critical sales data on their laptop while on the road.
® Field Access – allows you to control access rights down to the field level.

Salesnet Introduces Offline SFA Application That Enables Salespeople To View, Create, And Update Critical Sales Data While On The Road
Boston, MA June 24, 2002 – Salesnet, the best-of-breed Web-based Sales Force Automation (SFA) solution, today announced the industry’s first fully customizable offline SFA application for mobile sales professionals.
This new functionality will allow salespeople to see a customized layout that displays only the data they need while on the road. Salesnet’s offline functionality also allows users to “subscribe” to any of their online data that they wish to work with offline. The subscribed information, which can be opportunities, contacts, accounts, or calendar information, is synchronized with the offline application and kept up-to-date regardless of where the changes take place. This approach keeps salespeople who work offline focused on their critical information while significantly reducing synchronization time.
Offline features include:
∑ Create New Records: Users can create new Accounts, Contacts, Deals, Appointments, Tasks while offline, which are then synchronized with the central database the next time they are online.
∑ Update Opportunities: Users can update their opportunities, using their specific sales processes. Updated opportunities means better forecasting.
∑ Customize the Interfaces: Much like the online application, companies can design multiple screen interfaces for each department, team, or user within a company.
∑ Subscribe to Specific Data: Users can select the data they want to work with offline, dramatically reducing synchronization time. This enables team-selling because users can subscribe to any data they normally have access to online, including information owned by other users.
Salesnet’s offline application works on laptop computers with the Windows 98, 2000, or XP operating system. A Pocket PC offline version is planned for Q4 2002.
“Salesnet’s offline application gives our customers an even more convenient way to sell faster, smarter, and more effectively,” said Richard Perkett, CTO and co-founder of Salesnet. “Salesnet delivers the most flexible and customizable solution for working offline. Customers can customize and create multiple offline user interfaces for any department within the organization – from sales to marketing to customer support. This increases productivity and speed of communication, further improving the adaptability of Salesnet to meet the demands of any dynamic business environment.”

Salesnet’s Offline application will be available in Salesnet Extended, scheduled for release in Q3 2002. Salesnet Extended will also include a Web Services API, Field Access, Multiple Screen Layouts, and enhanced Process Builder functionality. FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Salesnet announces WEB SERVICES API THAT LEVERAGES THE
MICROSOFT.NET FRAMEWORK
XML Web Servic-Based Architectures API Supports Salesnet’s Best-of-Breed CRM ApplicationsStrategy
Boston, MA June 24, 2002 ó Salesnet, the best-of-breed Wweb-based Sales Force Automation (SFA) solution, today announced the beta release of its Web Services API built using the Microsoft.NET framework to enable easy integration between its SFA solution and other Customer Relationship Management (CRM) and enterprise applications. This capability allows customers to leverage existing technology investments and supports the a flow of customer and sales data across the enterprise, thus creating a best-of-breed CRM strategy.
Built on Microsoft’s.NET framework, Salesnet’s Web Services Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) will enable customers to push and pull data in and out of Salesnet remotely. By building a bridge between Salesnet and other enterprise applications, Salesnet offers customers tighter control of all critical business data and removes the labor intensive act of manually pulling data from one system and inputting it into another.
Analysts predict that the growing acceptance of XML Web Services will free organizations from having to trade functionality depth for ease of integration and will reduce the need for complex and costly CRM suites. A recent Gartner Groupreport estimates that through 2004, enterprises will rely on best-of-breed applications for more than 75 percent of their CRM software requirements. According to Gartner, this move towards best-of-breed applications is being driven by the growing maturity of Web Services: “As Web Services evolve through 2006, CRM application suites will be less compelling than advanced integration and messaging among best-of-breed applications and application components.”* (Source: Gartner Group, CRM in 2002 and Beyond, January 4, 2002.)
“Many enterprises have chosen to purchase cumbersome and costly CRM suites to more easily integrate just a few select programs,” explained Laurie McCabe, vice president of Summit Strategies, Inc. “Salesnet’s best-of-breed approach to CRM gives these enterprises the ability to more easily integrate individual applications, enabling customers to select and integrate the business applications that best fit their business requirements.”
