NY Times: PC Sales Down, Recovery Expected
SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) — Sales of personal computers declined in the second quarter for the fifth consecutive time, but the industry still is inching toward a recovery for 2002, two research firms reported Thursday.
In the quarter ended June 30, worldwide PC shipments were 31.1 million, down 0.5 percent from the year-ago period, according to the technology research firm International Data Corp. Preliminary data from Gartner Dataquest were nearly the same. (full story)
