ZD Net: How many of your IT resources go to moving data and personal settings from one PC to another? A coalition of hardware and
software makers–including Intel, IBM, Microsoft–want to ease the pain of data migration. The group’s long-term plan is to create a set of standards that let all PC makers offer software to catalog existing data and shuttle it over. In the near term, the group will promote migration technology that is already in place. (full story)
My spin: If this is true, then I really hope this happens and happens soon…but my question is will it really work and if it does work will it work easily and without corrupting data?
