NEW YORK (Reuters) – Dell Computer Corp. (NasdaqNM:DELL – news) has replaced Hewlett-Packard Co. (NYSE:HPQ – news) as the No. 1 maker of personal computers worldwide, market research firm International Data Corp. said on Thursday. (full story)
My spin:Why is Dell leading….? Does it even matter? Let’s face it – there’s only 3 major computer Desktop manufacturers (Dell, IBM, HP/Compaq), two kind of major ones (Gateway, Sony) and then the rest. Dell advertises all over the place and does a LOT online. In addition their prices are pretty good.
On the other hand – a 5% lead it’s not THAT much to sneeze at – is it?
