My spin: I do think that the CRM market is going to be tight but DO NOT think that stand alone CRM vendors are going to necessarily have a harder time than anyone else. If they build customer loyalty, as Front Range, BEST Software and others have done – they will succeed. Every customer does NOT want a bundled – all in one solution.
Microsoft’s entry into the CRM market has put pressure on mid-market vendors like Onyx, Pivotal, FrontRange and Interface Software. At the same time, mid-market ERP vendors are all scrambling to develop a CRM offering. “…The losers will be those stand-alone CRM suite vendors that cannot provide tight ERP integration, especially in the areas of order management and inventory….”(full story)
