For IT professionals looking to advance their career or move into another specialty, tech certifications present a quandary. In these post-boom years, most IT professionals now know that certification does not equal employment and a high salary. All those tests and fees have become somewhat of a turnoff. My spin: Some certificates might not mean very much. HOWEVER, there’s a few industry standard ones, like from Microsoft and etc, that really matter. Then again, it all depends on WHAT you are doing – computer technician vs network admin.
