My spin: There’s two stories here. 1) customers are really getting into email newsletters (I’m sure many are junk but hey – that’s life). The second story is that companies with a large base of customers can work with independent software vendors to create additional software tools to add on to the base product. Intuit’s successfully doing it with Quickbooks, Best Software, Microsoft (of course!) and many others.
