A trio of industry experts will meet November 13 to discuss the rapidly emerging new technology of Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP), conference sponsor Communications Daily announced. Federal Communications Commission Chief of Policy Development Robert Pepper, consultant and entrepreneur Jeff Pulver, and John Rego, Chief Financial Officer of VoIP provider Vonage are scheduled speakers. The teleconference, “VoIP: A Regulatory Primer,” can be accessed from any phone. Registration information is provided at the end of this press release. Details are here: http://www.warren-news.com/voiporderpr.htm (there is a fee)
The conference, which will run from 1:30-3 p.m. EST on November 13, is a direct outgrowth of the sudden emergence of VoIP as a real business for both major telecom firms and newcomers. Recent developments have included the announcement that Qwest will launch VoIP, the issuance of requests for proposals for VoIP by most major telcos, recent court rulings over who can regulate VoIP, and the expected FCC proceeding this year on VoIP issues.
