MICROSOFT’S CHIEF SOFTWARE ARCHITECT Bill Gates is repeating the mantra that users are to blame for insecure PCs, in an interview with a Canadian newspaper.
This refrain is familiar to the INQUIRER: Gates said more or less the same thing when he addressed an Assembly of CEOs in Berlin a few weeks ago.(full story)
My spin: Users do have some role to play in many cases. If they don’t have an anti-virus product, don’t update their PC, particpiate in file sharing servers and etc – it’s no wonder they might get some security breaches on their PC. HOWEVER, software developers still must develop workable and more secure software.
