Setting up and managing a Microsoft Exchange server is not something to be done lightly. Microsoft Exchange is a powerful email server but it takes a professional to maintain. This is not always ideal for smaller businesses who should be concentrating more on their business and not managing an email server. This is where outsourcing the work is a great idea.
AppRiver LLC, a provider of business email security solutions, today introduced its Microsoft Exchange 2003 hosting service. AppRiver’s Exchange Hosting features an innovative new web-based control panel, Shoreline, providing the ability for more organizations than ever before to benefit from the advanced messaging and collaboration features in Outlook when using Exchange 2003.
According to the AppRiver press release – Once logged in to Shoreline, administrators can quickly and easily change Exchange settings, such as adding users, changing storage quotas, and creating distribution groups — all in real-time. Shoreline also provides simple controls for email routing, domain aliases, forwarding, passwords and client configuration features.
Built using Microsoft.Net technology, Shoreline simplifies user migration, allowing administrators to migrate one user at a time, or all simultaneously. And, a unique Outlook client configuration wizard automatically transitions users from their old email environment to AppRiver’s Exchange Hosting platform.
“We designed our new hosting control panel to simplify speed and delivery of Exchange provisioning and management for service providers, VARs and end users,” said Michael Murdoch, AppRiver’s CEO and co-founder. “By giving administrators simple access to Exchange, Shoreline allows businesses and other organizations to benefit from the mobility, data synchronization and collaboration offerings of Exchange with significant time and cost savings.”
AppRiver’s Exchange Hosting will enable AppRiver’s network of more than 500 resellers in the U.S. and Europe to have a comprehensive email offering with emphasis on security and reliability.
“Courtesy Computers was in the process of building a proprietary framework to use Exchange when we were introduced to AppRiver’s Exchange Hosting,” said Tim Woodcock, CEO of Courtesy Computers, a leading South Florida IT services provider. “Not only did the cost benefit of outsourcing to AppRiver impress us, but Shoreline has a very quick learning curve so it makes Exchange more digestible for our clients. Embedding AppRiver’s anti-spam and anti-virus technology is also a key benefit. It’s nice to be able to use one vendor for both of these critical needs.”
AppRiver’s Exchange Hosting with Shoreline has a suggested end user price of $12.95 per user per month, which includes 200 MB of configurable Domain Aggregate Quota per user. Administrators are free to adjust user storage allocation as needs demand, and additional aggregate storage is available for $29.95/GB. No contracts are required and a 60-day free trial is available. Inbound and outbound email is protected with AppRiver’s popular managed email security service, SecureTide.
All the features of Exchange and Outlook are provided, including: Public Folders; Distribution Groups; Domain and User Level Rules; Outlook 2003; Outlook Web Access; Outlook Mobile Access and ActiveSync. Blackberry Enterprise Server and GoodLink are also available.
