HP Expands and Evolves Mobility Offerings

Today, in China, HP is launching a full line of mobility solutions for businesses and consumers. The announcement includes 13 new notebooks, virtual collaboration, mobility suite for easing mobile deployments in the enterprise and mobile video.

In March, HP announced an array of new products for small businesses, which I covered.
For growing businesses of all size, mobile productivity is vital and HP’s announcement about mobility is important as well. HP’s iPaq, in what seems like generations ago, led the mobile revolution for business. Today’s announcement continues this trend of mobility leadership and news about the iPaq.
“Rather than simply enabling products with wireless connectivity, HP is helping customers make connections to the people and information that are important to them,” said Todd Bradley, executive vice president, Personal Systems Group, HP. “These connections increasingly include rich digital media such as full motion video, graphics and voice for a real-time interactive experience, and HP is providing the devices, services and IT infrastructure to make this happen.”
HP announced that its business notebook lineup is among the industry’s first to feature Intel Centrino Pro Mobile technology, which offers built-in remote manageability and proactive security. The notebooks also include HP security innovations such as Drive Encryption for HP ProtectTools, a full volume encryption technology that renders the hard drive unreadable if the notebook or hard drive is lost or stolen.
Additionally, six of the seven new business notebook series boast a choice of mobile broadband connectivity options, and the new ultra-light notebooks will support CDMA 1xEV-DO Revision A, which offers a higher EV-DO connection speed.
HP’s new mobile software solutions will benefit people who enjoy interactive video on their mobile phones and mobile operators who want to leverage network investments and generate new revenue.
These announcements were made at “Making Connections: The 2007 HP Mobility Summit” in Shanghai, China. More information on this HP event is available at www.hpmobility.com.
