According to Wikipedia Administrative Professionals Day is on April 22, 2009 and was created to recognize the work of secretaries, administrative assistants, receptionists, and other administrative support professionals.
Sure, flowers (I use ProFlowers.com), chocolates, gift certificates (from Amazon.com) and other things are nice for the administrative assistant in your life.
However, instead of those wilting, fattening, short term gifts, what about a gift that your admin can use day in and day out and really appreciate?
Think about the work they do and consider what one or two tools would be best to make them more productive and ease their work load.
If they are stretching their neck and backs to answer a phone, what about a cordless head set from AT&T or another vendor. Hello Direct is great for all things telecommunication.
Maybe they have to get up to use a manual fax machine every several times a day. Why not use a service from Efax and have the faxes sent to them via email.
All admins have cell phones. What about buying them applications that can go on their iPhone, Treo, BlackBerry or other device and help them do more with less? You can download applications from the “app stores” of these vendors and check out HandanGo as well.
What about buying a small, svelte $500 netbook? HP, Dell, Acer and Asus.
For administrative assistants day – think beyond chocolate. Think tech.
