Ramon Ray talks about the QR code and how businesses can start using it right away. My point of view as an educated media user is to see how I can create more educated media users. As Ramon says, it’s smarter to educate your customers about your brand before someone else does. QR codes have been popping up everywhere. But like most new things, customers and businesses are hesitant to try new things. But don’t forget about the socially curious media users who will take that extra step to explore your QR code. As businesses, it’s not okay to miss out on how social media can leverage your business.
Start getting creative with QR codes.
Offer coupons and other incentives for customers who pull out their cameras to take a picture of your QR code. The business brands that give their customers a fun and interactive customer experience will remember your business on a whole new level!
Case and point: When I see an advertisement on a bus or in a store, do I want to stand there typing in the website? Or would I rather take a picture which would immediately take me straight to the website. Don’t forget that smartphones like the iPhone currently lag behind in features like SWYPE (in which you don’t have to lift your finger but rather glide when typing). While my android phone can allow me to swype vs. type, swype still takes a lot of time. The goal is to reduce the amount of clicks and time for a potential customer to learn more about your brand.
Remember, the goal with social media is to educate media users on your brand and executing this in a fun way! Get creative with where you place your QR code. Try putting it on media that you hand out and in places where people frequent! Heck, the water cooler at work would be a nice place to advertise my brand!
Here is a strategy that you first heard on the Small Business Technology blog: stick that QR code on a receipt! What a concept for getting customers to bring foot traffic back into your store!
