Das Keyboard @ SXSW 2011 – Serious Keyboards for Serious Typers

Das KeyboardIf you’re a heavy typer, cranking out pages as your fingers blur over the keyboard, it may be time to upgrade to a Das Keyboard device.

Das Keyboard says its line of high-end, super responsive keyboards will boost your productivity.

Crafted in the spirit of the legendary IBM Model M, Das Keyboard’s devices offer mechanical, gold-plated key switches that give you a tactile and audio click when pressed. The keyboards also have full n-key rollover—that’s tech talk meaning you can press as many keys at the same time with each being registered independently. To top it off, they all come with a two-port USB hub, so you can plug in your mobile phone and MP3 player for recharging.

There are four models to choose from: Professional, Professional Silent, Ultimate and Ultimate Silent. The Professional has laser etched key caps to prevent fading from your uber-usage. The Ultimate has no key markings, which is supposed to make you a faster typing machine (or at least more intimidating!). The silent versions offer the same tactile feel, but a much quieter click. Cost is $129 or $135.

Das Keyboard’s devices have become popular with programmers and serious gamers, but are beneficial to any business user that wants to increase typing output.
