In the final App of the Week of 2011, we showcase a guest post from Michele Nachum of GetApp.com that provides an overview of an app that has, well, lots and lots of apps within it. It’s only fitting that the final App of the Week is much more than an app. It’s many apps rolled into one.
When I first logged onto Apptivo, I was pretty amazed at the depth of the site. Apptivo has over 40 apps — all free and all in “the cloud” (a.k.a. accessed via the internet with a password). You can download tools for project management, CRM, time sheets, invoices, website management, e-commerce solutions, and the list goes on and on.
The good news is that the apps all integrate with each other. For instance, if you have created a client list in the CRM app, you can then use that same list to email all sorts of things like project updates in the project management app, invoices in the invoicing app, and more.
That said, it is easy to become a bit overexcited with all that Apptivo has to offer, so take a few minutes to think about what you really need and prioritize. Since all the apps are free, you can sign on without a credit card and once you do, you can then easily download all of the apps you wish to use.
For the sake of this article, I will touch on Apptivo’s project management solution. You can find detailed information and reviews for Apptivo on its many solutions and other functions on GetApp.com – an independent marketplace where small businesses can discover online software.
Apptivo has a very graphically friendly user interface, which makes it easy for anyone, even those of us who are technically challenged, use the solution like a power user. The help section is excellent with step by step directions and clear screen shots.
Once you download the Apptivo Projects App, you will be given a dashboard and from there you can create a project and then add in milestones, activities, invite team members and more.
There is a bit of work in the initial set-up – as you will have to input your milestones and activities and such, but Apptivo makes it easy. For instance, once you click on the milestones or activities tabs in the ribbon at the top of your screen, you will see a bright green tab that says Create Project, Create Milestones or Add Team Members. Once you click on the green button, the solution guides you through the process of filling in the appropriate information. As you fill in these tabs, your dashboard will become more populated with your goals and milestones listed in an easy-to-read fashion.
A quick note about the Team Member tab. The purpose of inviting your team to the Apptivo app is to enable them to also view the dashboard so they too can see the activities and milestones which provides a more interactive atmosphere. In addition, you can help your team by attaching documents provide additional insight into the project and tasks.
