PayPal, eBay, Amazon.com and other multi-million dollar ecommerce retailers are experts in security. They spend large percentages of their revenue on security software and human experts combating digital scammers.
As a small business owner you don’t have the time, the money or the expertise to fight against scammers who might be using stolen credit cards or other nefarious means to steal from you or your customers.
In comes Subuno , which provides a rules engine that allows merchants to make rules to screen fraud/filter orders without knowing how to program. Subuno provides a rules engine where merchants can use transaction data as well as third party data fields to make rules to screen fraud/categorize orders.
For example, you can make rules that say “Manual review all transaction greater than $300” or “Reject all transactions from Nigeria” or “Accept order from customers where shipping address matches billing address,” etc. Once these rules are set up, merchants can start sending transactions through and get immediate responses (accept, reject, manual review), and they can review all orders marked for manual review through our portal and decide the course of action.
For merchants who have no idea what rules to make- Subuno is working with their partners/third party service providers to come up with template rules that can get merchants started and they can tailor them as they see more transaction.
Generally, it costs between 5-10 cents per transaction, regardless of the amount involved in the transaction. There are 2 components to that- a basic cost for using Subuno rules engine (between 2-5 cents per transaction based on volume) and for third party services (this ranges from less than a penny to 8 cents currently depending on the service).
Merchants can set the priority of services, pick whether they want services to be called in series or in parallel- this actually saves merchants a lot of money. For example, if merchants can filter transactions based on transaction origination IP country ($.0001) or known proxy ($.005), the other more expensive services don’t have to be triggered. Right now Subuno has 8 third party services integrated, providing BIN, IP country, IP risk scoring, email verification, phoneID, address/phone/name matching. Most of the services are less than 2 cents per call, the address/phone/name matching is more expensive at 8 cents per call. So might be worth it if it involves a high ticket item. Subuno is in the process of adding a few more. Lastly, Subuno provides access to 9 free services that help merchants speed up the manual review process.
