This year, like other years, I and my family have been very blessed.
While many people around the world lack housing and food and other basic necessities of life, I don’t. In fact I’m gaining so much weight I was charged twice on the train (well almost!).
While many around this great country of ours are without work and struggling financially – I’m not. I’ve been very blessed. I could always have MORE money, LESS done and MORE cash flow, but as I said – I’m blessed.
In fact just a few weeks ago one of my children received a full scholarship to the university of their choice!
Overall, Smallbiztechnology.com has grown.
Traffic is up this year – which means more and more of you LIKE the content and find it useful.
Comments are up this year (thanks to the switch to Disquss) and that’s even better as it shows people are engaged.
Twitter followers are up. Today over 6,700 followers and I think I had around 4,000 (or so so) earlier this year. I would blush, but black people don’t blush (at least that you can see).
The three big events we did this year (Laura Leites thank you!) went quite well – Small Business Summit 2011 (2012 Summit is coming up in March), Small Business Influencer Awards (with Anita Campbell, Small Business Trends) was just out of this world and the Small Business Technology Tour. 2011’s 12 Hours Of Tech , held on the occasion of Internet Week went well too.
At CES 2011 in January I was able to share the stage with Guy Kawasaki, that was a treat. Thanks OPEN by American Express for asking me to come. MSNBC’s Your Business also asked me to be on TV, once or twice…maybe in 2012 they’ll ask me to come on the air every week!
I could go on and on and on….about publishing my second book at Small Business Technology Guide and working with Wiley on a 3rd!
This year has been a great year and I appreciate all my local NY area friends in the business community, especially Adrian’s Network and those in the national community who’ve I’ve come to know and work with – Brent Leary, John Lawson, the entire team at New York Expo (hey Marc and Devin), the dozens of PR professionals who keep me up to date on their clients and so many others. Darnell, can’t wait for the launch of Evolution Magazine. Big shout out to the hard working crew at the Manhattan Chamber of Commerce (Nancy and Laura) , Queens Chamber of Commerce (Lloyd) and New York City Business Solutions (Shelly)!
A big thanks to Laura Leites who has helped me put together many of these initiatives.
Thanks to all the smallbiztechnology.com writers – those who write on smallbiztechnology.com and those who help me in my own writing. Allison thanks for being a great content coordinator and Carolyn – thanks for being a jack of all trades and helping me out!
Rob & Daria, keep doing a great NY Enterprise Report; Yacov, when you get back from your trip let’s talk; Jeff Silbert (Order of Magnitude) let’s talk at least ONCE this year; Alfred (Black Enterprise) I wish a I could wear a bow tie like you. Wendi and Ellen – NY email marketing princesses (Gail is the Queen – right?) – what’s up!
Have a great New Year.
