I just read a press release that SugarSync is going to be bundled on new Android phones from Panasonic Lumix and Sharp Aquos Android Camera.
This bundling is not new but it continues to show that your next hire is going to be much more tech savvy than the person you hired 10 or 20 years ago.
In their personal lives, they’ll be using many of the technology tools we might still struggle to use.
If you want to maximize your next hires, in addition to ensuring they can read, write and speak well and of course do the task you hired them for, see how they would get a 30 second video from a camera to Youtube. Find out how they would speak about a new company hire in 140 characters or less.
Although these skills might sound a bit “childish” or “lame” to business owners not adept in new media, these skills are essential as you create your next press release or work to engage with your customers who all are on Facebook.
Having employees who can leverage digital tools and know how to navigate a variety of digital and online assets will make your entire company that much smarter and competitive.
Regardless of the push and march towards the fast adaptation of new technology ensure they follow your systems and corporate policies. “Cool” technology is nice but if it creates a legal snafu or disables your inventory system, it’s not worth it.
