Printing is a necessary evil in most offices. While you WISH that you could just scroll along on your tablet or read documents on your large monitor, often times paper in hand is what is best. There are a variety of great printers on the market, from Epson, Brother, HP, Xerox, Canon, Dell and I’m sure a few others.
Laser printers are fast and have toner that lasts a long time, but for many businesses on a budget they’re still a bit expensive. Ink jet printers cost less and hence are still a bought by consumers and businesses alike.
Today I want to tell you about a new line of ink jet printers from Lexmark – two new printers in fact.
The Lexmark Office Edge Pro5500 and OfficeEdge Pro4000 color MFPs are built for fast, professional, heavy-duty printing and scanning. The 5500 is the more feature rich of the two. According to Lexmark, both printers have faster print speeds than most similarly priced color laser MFPs, up to 21 pages per minute (ppm) in black and 14 ppm in color2, and the fastest time to first page compared to laser devices in its class means users spend less time waiting for a print job to complete. I stopped by Lexmark’s offices and indeed these printers print very fast.
Two things, in particular, I like about the Pro5500 is that it has a dual page scanner to enable you to quickly scan two sides of a page. In addition it’s touch screen nicely showcases the user programmable apps, Lexmark Smart Solutions, that the printer can connect with – such as TripIt, Google Calendar and many more. Including combinations of commands, such as scan this document and email it to a client. At $249 (Pro 4000) and $400 (Pro 5500) these printers are affordable for most small business budgets in need of a new printer.
