The lights went out! A cybercriminal has penetrated an online clothing website. The website’s owner goes here and there from computer to computer trying to fight back and regain control. Over the past few years, there has been an increase in cybercrime and hacking incidents, leading to frantic situations like the one described.
We all know how important security is.
Large enterprises and government agencies do regular network scanning as these entities have enough funds to carry out network scanning on regular basis. However, this regular scanning seems impractical in the case of small businesses, due to the high cost and on-premise, traditional scanning products also needed for installation and maintenance. To combat data breaches and espionage focused for small and medium sized business, nCircle, an automated security and compliance auditing solutions firm, has introduced nCircle PureCloud, a new network security scanning service.
nCircle PureCloud: The network venerability scanner
This service can scan your internal and external networks without installing any hardware or software. It tells you what is happening on your network – which application is posing a threat to your network and how you can safeguard your network. PureCloud needs only a web browser, an internet connection and can be used by anyone, regardless of IT security skill level.
How does it work?
Shelley Boose, public relation executive form nCircle has given detailed insight to smallbiztechnology.com over how PureCloud works.
Boose stated that, “PureCloud is a browser running on a Windows-based operating system (Windows 7, Windows XP, Windows Server 2003 and Windows Vista). When a user logs into PureCloud and clicks the ‘Get Started’ button, a wizard guides them through the scan process and the PureCloud Secure Connector installation. After the PureCloud Secure Connector is installed, it creates a secure and encrypted Virtual Private Network (VPN) connection to a PureCloud scan engine hosted by nCircle. The PureCloud scan engine uses this secure connection to automatically scan all systems (up to 255 IPs) directly connected to the host running the PureCloud Secure Connector.”
She also added that most scans for average sized networks complete in about an hour and when the scan completes, the user can click on each system in the ‘Scan Details’ section to see that system’s vulnerabilities.
Should you try it?
There are many companies, including Computer Associates, TFS Technology, Websense, and RedCreek are offering network protection software and products. But you may try nCircle PureCloud for a month, as it is available absolutely free, and requires no installation.
