Telecommuting is GREAT if your employer allows it and if you do it properly. In fact some studies show that you get MORE done when you save an hour on the train to work and an hour on the train from work, skip the obligatory “lunches” and just work in the quietness of your home office.

1. Ease Into It

Requesting to telecommute may cause your manager to be concerned about your productivity. Suggest telecommuting starting at one day per week, and then finish off several projects on day one to show how focused you are. Always stay in constant contact with the office. Though you are working from home, your co-workers should never feel as if you are far away.
