Best Buy’s customer IT support services for home and businesses, GeekSquad, wants to aggressively continue to grow its customer base by working with IT partners to resell their services.
The resellers are not going to be your local IT consultant (GeekSquad competes with them) but will be those IT companies who do not provide consulting services but focus on installing managed phone services, network cables, etc.
These companies don’t want to provide computer and network support to their customers, but can turn to GeekSquad to do it and get paid for the referral.
What does this mean to you?
If you are looking for IT support for your business, you can find it from your local IT consultant, national brands such as Dell, GeekSquad, retailers such as Staples. Lot’s of choices for you to choose from. Is one BETTER than the other. Personally, I like a local IT consultant the best. These guys know you personally and might have 5 – 25 or so customers – so YOU are very important to them.
On the other hand, retail IT support services such as GeekSquad or Staples are options if you don’t have an IT consultant to turn to and just like having a brand such as BestBuy or Staples to help you.
Companies such as Dell, HP or other similar vendors provide a variety of “soup to nuts” technology advisory services to their customers. In the case of Dell it’s provider computers (of course), but also installation and support services, and now cloud services to help growing businesses migrate to Salesforce or other cloud applications.
