Terry Bogard, the popular SNK icon, has made his debut as the first-ever guest character in the mainline Street Fighter series with Street Fighter 6. Despite initial impressions from his gameplay trailer, Terry has surprised players with his technical playstyle and higher learning curve. The #1 ranked Terry player in the world, Naruo, and the #2 ranked Terry, Mago, along with one of the best players in the world, Punk, have been grinding and learning everything they can about this new fighter in competitive, high-level online bouts.
In neutral, Naruo and Mago fish for confirms with buttons like crouching medium punch and crouching medium kick, while Punk utilizes standing heavy kick often, as it is safe on block when spaced out properly and crumples the opponent when it punish counters. Once a hit is landed, Terry players confirm into a Drive Rush cancel or target combo into a special move to carry the opponent toward the corner, where pressure is applied using fireballs and well-placed normals. Terry’s side-switching abilities are also showcased by Naruo and Mago, demonstrating different ways to dominate once they have their foe cornered.
Capcom has released the official launch trailer for Terry Bogard ahead of the DLC character’s release, showcasing what players can do with Terry across various game modes and highlighting new content being added in the update. The trailer features a close look at the World Tour mode update, where Terry can be found in a special Pao Pao Cafe location alongside SNK cosplayers of Joe Higashi and Blue Mary.
terry’s technical debut
As your master, Terry will teach you his moves and send you on missions to complete with your avatar. Capcom is also giving every Street Fighter 6 player a collection of fan art from a recent contest to celebrate Terry’s arrival. Players who own the Year 2 Character Pass will be able to start playing with Terry in offline mode as soon as the patch is live.
In addition to Terry’s release, Capcom has announced the winners of the Street Fighter 6 challenger artwork campaign. 20 pieces of art have been selected to be featured in the game and will be available for free to all SF6 players, along with special titles for participants and winners. The upcoming update appears to be one of the largest for SF6, bringing in even more content and features, such as fighting against specially tuned AI opponents at different ranked skill levels and receiving tips from Li-Fen.
Players can also take control of match replays to test out different situations and quickly learn from specific interactions. Street Fighter 6’s servers are scheduled for maintenance to implement these updates, and players are advised to collect rewards from the Illustration Contest Street Voter via the in-game News section.
